How do I explain the Beginner macrolevel changes to students?


You can explain it simply:  

"We added a new Beginner 1 course for students with no previous English knowledge. To make room for this, we renamed the existing Beginner courses. Former Beginner 1 is now Beginner 2, and former Beginner 2 is now Beginner 3. Your certificate and progress remain valid."
